THE ICR PROJECT EPITOMISES A FUSION OF INNOVATION DESIGN CONCEPTS AND FUNCTIONAL ENHANCEMENTS TAILORED TO MEET THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF ITS OCCUPANTS.
The beginning of this transformative project traces back to our Business Development’s initial contact with ICR through telemarketing. Subsequent discussions, both virtual and on-site visits to witness the ongoing construction of the Maggie’s at the Royal Marsden Hospital, laid the groundwork for a collaborative partnership. Impressed by the design ethos and functional space of the Maggie’s facility, ICR expressed a desire to emulate its success in their own workspace.
FROM THE WELCOMING RECEPTION AREA TO THE VERSATILE BREAKOUT SPACES, EACH DESIGN ELEMENT CONTRIBUTES TO A COHESIVE AND DYNAMIC WORKSPACE ENVIRONMENT.
An opportunity arose for Habit Action Science to pitch for the design and construction of ICR’s 123 Old Brompton site. Leveraging the Maggie’s at the Royal Marsden Hospital case study, the design team did a great job emphasizing space optimization and adherence to ICR’s unique requirements. Despite facing stiff competition from seven other design and build companies, extensive rehearsals and meticulous preparation bolstered our pitch.
One of the primary challenges revolved around space planning and maximizing natural light within the existing structure. Furthermore, ensuring Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance posed a significant hurdle due to the absence of step-free access from the street. To address these challenges, innovative solutions such as the installation of a platform lift and strategic placement of double-glazed windows were implemented. Additionally, navigating diverse stakeholder perspectives necessitated adept project management, skilfully managed by the design team, to ensure alignment with ICR’s vision.
